ELEVATOR RECALL SYSTEM

Elevator recall is one of the most important features of buildings fire protection system. The Elevator recall is part of fire alarm system, but only certain devices should activate the elevator recall. The only devices that activate elevator recall are smoke and heat detectors that are located inside elevator machine rooms, elevator lobby smoke detectors, smoke and heat detector inside elevator pit and shaft. There are main and alternative elevator recall floors. Normally main floor is where the main entrance is and alternative floor is the second best floor from which occupants of a building can escape safely and quickly in case of fire. Elevator recall feature prevents people taking elevator to a floor where fire is. For example, if there is a fire on 16th floor, people who are in elevator, regardless where they were going will be sent to main floor (1st floor or lobby level), elevator doors will open, elevator will stop working and fire alarm will activate notification appliances (horn, strobes, bells, speakers etc.) If there is a fire on main floor and main floor smoke detector is activated the elevator will be sent to alternative level, elevator doors will open and the elevator will stop working.
